Frequently Asked Questions

There are two ways. First: right-click any image on a page and select "Scan QR code with Kod" from the context menu — the result appears instantly. Second: click the Kod icon in your browser toolbar to open the side panel — Kod will automatically scan the entire page and show all QR codes found in images.

No — Kod scans static images only, not video content. To scan QR codes that appear inside YouTube videos, use our other extension: Scan YouTube QR Code.

Yes. Click the Kod icon in your toolbar and drag & drop an image file, or click to browse your files.

Only when you explicitly click the "With Camera" button inside the extension. Camera access is never used in the background.

Yes. All scanning happens locally in your browser — nothing is sent to any server. Your scan history (decoded text, thumbnail, timestamp) is saved on your device only and can be cleared at any time by removing the extension or clearing browser storage.

Kod scans standard QR codes (all versions). Support for other 2D barcode formats is planned.

Make sure the QR code is clearly visible and not too small. Try right-clicking directly on the QR code image. If it still doesn't work, visit the support page and we'll help you out.
