Scan YouTube QR Code ·  Last updated: 2026-05-24

Overview

Scan YouTube QR Code is a Chrome extension that automatically detects QR codes appearing inside YouTube videos and makes them clickable. This policy describes what data the extension accesses and how it is handled.

Data processing

All QR detection happens locally in your browser. The extension does not operate any servers, does not transmit video frames or QR results to any external service, and does not include analytics or telemetry of any kind.

What the extension accesses

  • YouTube video frames — the extension reads frames from the YouTube video player in the active tab to scan for QR codes. Frames are processed in memory and discarded immediately; they are never stored or transmitted.
  • Page content — the extension injects a small overlay into the YouTube page to display detected QR codes as clickable links. No other page data is read or recorded.

What the extension stores

The extension does not persist any data. Detected QR codes are shown as overlays in real time and discarded when the video advances. No history, no local database.

Data sharing

The extension does not sell, transfer, or share any data with third parties.

Changes to this policy

If the extension is updated in a way that affects data handling, this policy will be updated and the “Last updated” date will change.
