Privacy Policy
Summary
Shopify App Detector has no server, no account, no analytics and no telemetry. It does not collect, transmit, sell or share your data. Everything it produces stays in your browser on your device.
What it reads
When you scan a page, the extension reads information the page already exposes publicly: its markup and the URLs of the resources it loaded, Shopify’s own storefront variables, and the names of cookie and storage keys — never their values. When you press Count catalog, it also requests the store’s own public sitemap and meta.json.
It never reads form fields, passwords, payment details, or anything you type.
What it stores
Locally, in chrome.storage.local on your device: your settings, your scan history (store domain, detected apps, theme name, timestamps), and a counter that decides when the rating prompt appears. History is capped and can be wiped at any time with Erase all history. Uninstalling the extension deletes everything.
None of this is uploaded anywhere.
What leaves your browser
Only pages you open yourself, plus two Chrome-initiated page loads:
- a welcome page on install, and a farewell page when you remove the extension;
- the Write to us support link;
- the review link, which passes the star rating you pressed so the page can respond to it.
These are ordinary visits to our website wrongorbit.com. Like any website, it sees your IP address and browser user-agent. It receives no scan data, no history and no identifier.
Export writes a file to your computer or copies text to your clipboard — nothing is sent.
Permissions
- Access to websites you visit — the detection code has to run on the storefront being scanned.
scripting— injects that code into the page.storage— keeps your settings and history locally.
Third parties
None. No analytics SDK, no error reporting, no remote code, no external fonts or assets.
Children
This is a tool for merchants and developers. It is not directed at children.
