Privacy Policy
Overview
Shopify Theme Detector is a Chrome extension that identifies how a Shopify storefront is built. It runs entirely inside your browser.
What we collect
Nothing. The extension has no accounts, no analytics, no tracking, and no telemetry. We do not receive, store, or see any data about you or the pages you scan.
What stays on your device
- Scan results — cached per tab and cleared when you close the browser.
- Settings — your language, theme, and preferences.
- Scan history — only if you turn it on. It never leaves your device and you can delete individual entries or clear it entirely from Settings at any time.
All of this is stored with Chrome’s local extension storage on your computer. Uninstalling the extension removes it.
Network activity
The extension makes network requests in only two cases:
- Scanning a store. When you run a scan, the extension reads the page you are on and may request that same store’s own public endpoints (for example
/meta.json,/products.json) — the same addresses anyone can open in a browser. Results are shown to you and nowhere else. - Links you click. Links to the project website (support, review, welcome, uninstall pages) open only when you or Chrome opens them. No scan data, page address, or identifier is attached. The review link carries only the star rating you chose.
The extension never sends your browsing data to us or to any third party, and no data is ever sold or shared.
Permissions

Children
The extension is a tool for merchants and developers and is not directed at children.
Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version will be published with a new date on this page.
