What the extension does
Side Panel displays a customizable dock on supported web pages. It provides optional shortcuts to websites, bookmarks, browsing history, downloads, and Google Translate, as well as a custom New Tab page.
Data stored locally
The extension stores its settings, dock items, custom shortcut URLs and titles, shortcut order, theme choices, New Tab preferences, and locally cached custom icons in Chrome local storage. This data is not synced to a server operated by us.
Bookmarks, history, and downloads
When you use the matching tools, the extension reads Chrome bookmarks, browsing history, and downloads to display them in the dock. Recent browsing history may also be shown as search suggestions on the New Tab page. This data is processed locally and is not sent to our servers.
Network requests and third parties
- When you add a website shortcut, the extension requests that website to obtain its page title and favicon. The website receives a standard request from your browser.
- When you translate text, the selected text and language settings are sent directly to Google Translate. When you choose to translate the current page, its URL is sent to Google Translate. The extension does not retain translated text on our servers. Please review Google’s Privacy Policy for details on how Google handles translation requests.
- The New Tab page may load a selected wallpaper from Unsplash. Searches, Lens, Gemini, or Google Translate opened from the extension are user-initiated navigations to Google services.
- Website favicons displayed for shortcuts and browser items are obtained through Chrome’s built-in favicon service.
Data sharing, analytics, and data sales
We do not sell personal data. Data is shared with third parties only in the situations described above: Google Translate receives text, language settings, or a page URL when you choose to translate; Unsplash may receive a request for a selected New Tab wallpaper; and a website receives a standard browser request when you add it as a shortcut. We do not use analytics or crash-reporting services.
Our website
When you uninstall the extension, it may open an uninstall-feedback page on wrongorbit.com. The extension may also open our support or review pages. Those pages may receive standard web-request information such as IP address, browser details, and request logs, subject to their own privacy practices.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes, we will update this page and the date above.
