YouTube Screenshot ·  Last updated: 2026-07-29

What the extension does

YouTube Screenshot captures the currently displayed frame of the YouTube video player in your tab and gives it to you as an image — either on the clipboard or as a downloaded file. The capture happens locally in your browser. No video content is uploaded or sent anywhere.

Data stored locally by the extension

The extension stores your capture preferences locally using Chrome extension storage. This may include:

  • Image format (PNG or JPEG) and JPEG quality
  • Filename pattern
  • Whether to copy to clipboard or download by default
  • Whether to burn the video timestamp into the filename

This data is used only to restore your settings the next time you take a shot.

Analytics

The extension may use privacy-focused analytics to understand basic usage and improve the product. Events are anonymous or aggregated — for example, the popup being opened or a capture being taken. Analytics are not used to identify individual users.

The extension does not send captured images, video URLs, video titles, watched content, or browsing history to analytics services.

Data we do not collect

We do not collect names, email addresses, passwords, financial information, health data, browsing history, or the contents of the videos you watch.

Data sharing

We do not sell, transfer, or share your data with third parties.

Remote code

The extension does not use remote code. All JavaScript, CSS, and other assets ship inside the extension package.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes, we will update this page and the date above.
